Yame on Kyushu Island produces award-winning premium green tea.  (same town as Mr. Baba's Watermill!)  The region has clean air, fertile soil with warm mornings and cool evenings, great altitude, ideal for tea-farming.  Yame has panoramic view like the vineyards in Napa Valley in California, but of tea bushes.  Yame tea is known for it's vibrant green color and rich umami. (without the bitterness like Uji tea in Kyoto). Best brewing water temperature is 80C to maintain its delicate flavor.  
 
KOUN KILN of Mikawachi
Artisan Takamitsu Imamura runs Koun Kiln and insists in handling every step of the process by himself, with the help of his wife.   When many porcelain producers in the region evolve into using decal for cheaper and faster production, Mikawachi artisans strictly maintain the practice of hand-painting all of the work.  The delicate brush work and impeccable coloring skills is nothing compare to the souless motif decals.  Mr. Imamura's portraiture whales are always gentle, cheerful and playful.
