1:1 English-speaking Kintsugi Workshop at Goenne Japan Fukuoka Private lesson for authentic traditional kintsugi (repair pottery using urushi lacquer and gold powder). Learn about urushi lacquer, and try the material and tools used by Japanese artisans. Set up for 1 participant. (2 participants ok) Cost: $345 per person Why learn from us? You may be attracted to kintsugi craft because of the gold veins and the wabi-sabi philosophy. But authentic traditional kintsugi embeds much more than that. If you are genuinely interested in getting deeper knowledge about the craft, authentic material, tools and methodology, you will find our session interesting and informative. No lost-in-translation. We teach 1-on1 in native-fluency English. And no cookie-cutter class, we will explaining traditional materials and tools to help you understand each's function and fundamental repair methods. With good understanding in material theory, you will be able to make technical decisions independently when you practice on your own. Beginners, kintsugi enthusiasts, experienced practicioner all welcome. We understand people have packed traveling schedule, expect 2-hour kintsugi session to be heavy information download on urushi lacquer and kintsugi tools, repair types and methods, and end with experiencing the final step of powdering a repaired pottery with gold/silver. We recommend multiple sessions to learn the holistic process. Consult with us in advance if interested in planning multiple-sessions that fits your itinerary. Kintsugi material and tools available for your use during the workshop. After experiencing the craft, you can decide if you want to purchase any material for your own practice. We will assist you to put together your very own kintsugi tools. We do not sell cookie-cutter hobby kintsugi kits. Cost include: (1) Lecture, demonstration and hands-on experience in fundamental kintsugi pottery repair. (2) Shipping cost for 1 lacquered or gold-powdered work (or can packaged to take home if it fits into your travel luggages). (3) use of all traditional kintsugi tools during the workshop, most tools are available for purchase (4) choice of 0.1g gold OR 1g silver powder to use and take away Choose sessions AM session 10:00am to 12:00pm PM session 2:00pm to 4:00pm Read about urushi lacquer (and its allergens) before signing up. Gloves, arm sleeves and apron will be provided. Bring notebook to take lots of notes. And bring your curiosity.

This workshop involves handling of Japanese urushi lacquer. Its urushiol content in liquid state is known to cause allergic reaction (skin rash) when comes in contact with skin directly. Please read and understand this raw material and decide if you should participate in this workshop. Taketombo (dba Goenne.com) shall not be liable for any allergic condition caused from handling Japanese lacquer. You agreed to wear protective gears (long sleeves, gloves, apron, and/or face mask) during workshop to minimize accidental skin, face, eyes contact with the material. You agreed to sign a liability release prior to all workshop and activities. During the tour or at the workshop, if you do not feel comfortable and decide not to handle any urushi material, please kindly let us know. It is ok to watch demonstration at your comfortable distance and skip any hands-on experience. Use your own judgement. Tools used in workshop may include sharp objects or knives. Participants in the workshop may have to handle sharp objects or knives, but not mandatory. Use common sense in handling these items, and use at your own risk. Any medical condition or injury incurred will be your responsibility, so we suggest all participants to get travel insurance from your home country prior to departure. This workshop is not suitable for young children. We did not set an age requirement, but consider the duration of the course and the requirement to handle raw urushi and delicate or sharp tools, we would not recommend young children to enroll. CANCELLATION POLICY & REFUND POLICY We understand some times travel plans have to change. Cancellation request should be made in writing via email. Cancellation received 60 days before date of workshop (Japan standard time), 100% refund with $15 admin fee. Cancellation received 30 days days before date of workshop (Japan standard time), 80% refund with $10 admin fee. Cancellation received 15 days before date of workshop (Japan standard time), 50% refund with $10 admin fee. Cancellation received 5 days before date of workshop (Japan standard time), 20% refund with $10 admin fee. Same day cancel, no-show: No refund. Alternatively, upon request, we can hold the paid funds and apply full amount to credit future workshops for you. Price subject to change. There may be balance due if future workshop fee is higher than the amount your have paid. Any credit from overpayment will be refunded as store credit for www.goenne.com
